spirit is a bone

This was a strange piece. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do, but no real approach. So, I started experimenting with some colors and different inks until I got the general vibe I wanted. Then, I drew in the skeletal fragments with FW ink. I'm pretty happy with it, but I'm not sure exactly what I like about it.

Couple of failed experiments. The top one is a texture experiment with different inks, rubber cement, a brayer, and masking tape. I don't really even know why I posted it. Maybe I'll come back to it in the future with an actual concept for its use.

And we're back in the sketchbook

This was a fun little creepy thing. Tried something new that I might look into doing more of, I made a make-shift glaze out of fw ink and an acrylic gel medium for the color on the tapeworm guy. I like the effect and I'm going to try to see what kind of stupid things I can do with this new trivial experiment.

Finally, a new finished piece!!

Here's something other than sketchbook pages! It's a drawing I did on Strathmore 500 Series Illustration Board with an "oil rub" technique I've been working on. Enjoy!

...and please feel free to tell me what you think.

Here's some quick studies of my dog for my digital illustration class and another sloppy job with some brushpens and white out. After this weekend I'm going to start working on posting more of my finished work here. I have some projects in the works and once they're done I'll scan them in.

More sketchbookingness. Did this with both pentel brushpens and beinfang watercolor brushpens.

You can lead a man to city, but that doesn't assure civility- Ian Mathias Bavitz

Cranking away, a page a day, in my sketchbook. I'm really loving this watercolor moleskine. The paper is awesome, I have almost NO problem with bleed through when doing washes or weird experimentation techniques. I did this sketch today with various watercolor brushpens, a ballpoint pen, and a prismacolor pigment liner. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

New Year Dumpage

Here's the last of my Drawing a day for 30 Days assignment. I just got around to scanning them in since I got back to Richmond.

Here's some sketches to kick start the new year! I know they're pretty weak. Most of them are experiments gone bad, but I at least learned something from them.
