Terrible Self Portrait

This was our final project in Visual Studies Drawing. I did this on 12"x14" Strathmore 500 Series Illustration Board with Prismacolor colored pencils. I think it looks like something I would have done in Middle School. I got too carried away with layering colors that I broke the first rule of drawing...I didn't set my proportions careful enough. Terrible. I think it looks flat and too much like a caricature.

Still life

Finally got around to scanning this one in. It was a still life project from earlier in the semester. We had to use 5 objects: 2 different sized boxes, something metal, something shiny, and something organic. It had to be rendered with a highly representational approach using only graphite. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I think I could have pushed the contrast a little more, and maybe more closely observed some of the finer points. This was done on Rives BFK with my pencils ranging from 2H-3B.
