Newest painting

Acrylic on Canvas 11"x14"

This is a split image project we did in my design class. We had to show 2 opposite images side by side, but with something linking the 2 together. My theme is weapons, so I chose to do a nuclear explosion. I went with the idea of the explosion being violent, showing intense heat and light, and being linked to death. In the second image I wanted to accentuate serenity, cool calm colors, and the idea of life in balance with its environment. I used a reference photo for the bomb, but I used the bomb as a reference for the tree. I didn't want the tree to look too realistic, but more of an idea. I give much credit to Jorge Benitez for helping me approach how to paint the explosion with a blinding usage of light.
